Anybody using Google Cardboard?

I was thinking about buying a class set of Google cardboard viewers for my class, but I'm not sure what to get. I've used the original Google Cardboard and they seemed fine, but I've never used anything else. They are $15 each on Amazon. Most of the kids have their own Android or iPhones.

There are a ton of alternatives at less than half that price, but not sure if they are worth it.

I haven't tried any VR/3d anything on this phone I got about a year ago.
Maybe it's time to get freaky with it.

I played a VR space game on my buddy's Samsung, and it was very cool, and I really enjoyed it.
It wasn't worth the price of his phone though...

As I was continuing my research, I see there are more VR goggles out there for gaming than educational use. I was talking to the guy who teaches 3D animation and game design. He wants to start teaching the kids how to create VR games, so he convinced the district to set up a VR lab.

The VR lab at school that would be a gamer's paradise. In a full size classroom, there are three VR workstations running HPZ computers and HP VR goggles. The goggles are tethered to the ceiling.

He said the high school has an HP VR backpack.
