    Indoor HDTV Antenna?

Cable company pulled the yearly "more $, less channels" again, so it's pretty much just local channels. I've been looking at the Indoor HDTV Antennas, and it's making my head swim. I'm in Dixon, so I'm in the middle between the Sac and SF broadcasts, and need something with good range.
Regret taking out the outdoor antenna when I put siding on the house, now there's no feasible way to run a line without drilling holes in the siding.
So, what can you recommend for a good indoor antenna? Do they make anything with that kind of range?

I bought a tiny figure 8 looking hd antenna, supposedly for outside, and put it in my attic. I got it off the shelf at best buy. I used antenna point amd my aip code to roughly point it.

First try, i pulled in dozens of local channels. They either get a signal or dont, so the picture is perfect.

87, thanks for the link, it led me to a double version of that one with a 70 mile range. I'm about 55-60 miles from the bay area towers, and about 45 from the Sac towers.

We use this one that plugs into your tv's USB port for power. It works perfectly and we are fairly far away from any signal.

May be a newer one now available as they list this one the way they do now.

Ok so. I was about to drop my cable as well. To get ready, I picked up a flat antenna. About the size of a placemat, just as thin and transparent so the color of the wall you hang it in shows through. It picks up a shty load of stations some movie only channels, cartoon, news etc. A few channels come in or don't depending on which way it faces. But that's not the point, I wanted to pass on what I was told, when shopping for an antenna and the claims on range, don't buy the hype on super long ranges claimed on some. The curverture of the earth push a limit on all of them. Start with a cheaper one and try it out, send back if it does not satisfy. On a side note, I was paying DTV $140 a month or so, no premiums ither. I called them requesting someone to talk to to terminate my service. The lady asked who I was going to go with. I said no one. I am just going to stream on the net. She said ok and started the process, and near the end telling me where to send my receivers to. I said ok and thank you. Then when she new I was serious and not trying to get a better rate, she offered me a deal, same plan, couple channels dropped, I have not noticed which, $35 a month, no contract, no rate increase for at least 2 years. I took it

I see where some are directional, and some multi directional. Jeeze, are we now back to hand adjusting coat hangers on the rabbit ears?
9 mill, "powered" as in it needs it's own power source?

Mine is powered, it has a USB cord that plugs into your TV USB for power.

There is a web site. You put in your address and it will list all the stations youcanexpect to get and the expected signal strength of each. You can see what channels the estimate you will get very clear, ok, and the ones that might not come in so clear. Some of the over the air are HD as well.

Sorry I do not remember the site. Google should make it easy to find.

Thanks, found a whole page of them! Checked this out, and it's all the ones I already get with the cable.

You might get a lot more than they list there. I am out pretty far in the country and got like 70+ channels if I remember correctly. There were quite a few Spanish and even one each of Chinese, Hebrew, Indian, a Russian one I think. Some shopping and church etc. But there were plenty of good ones left after I blocked all those.

I used a compass to point antenna mounted outside on roof according to this site's chart for my house. A great resource:

Thanks for the link TRAP, checked and we're screwed here in ABQ, only 13 channels listed, of those only 2 I'd watch, occasionally. Towers are 14 miles away which probably means they are all on top of the Sandia Ridge at 9,000ft!
