crummy windows 10 email program IS GONE

downloaded Outlook 2016 License and I can block spam and junk and other good stuff.
only $18.99 for a License key for the standalone email program (so you don't need to buy the whole MS Office suite) and you get a link to your Android phone too.

should have done this long ago.

Heh. Ebay has full Office keys for like $6 (seems legit too, as I've asked Microsoft for help with the activation process once or twice and they didn't say anything about it not being legit.)
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

I used Outlook for decades (and have 3 current MS Office licenses) before kicking it to the curb. Outlook is a great corporate email client but now that I'm retired and primarily rely on gmail for 3 email addresses and have a single yahoo account - Outlook is too limiting. First I needed a connector (CompanionLink - I own a license) to sync Outlook with my gmail contacts and calendar. That all works fine if you just have a single email address but I have several, or if you just use a single computer. Yes Outlook allows for multiple accounts but not for a unified inbox unless you limit yourself to POP3 which means that it's hard to sync your mail between machines. Since I have multiple devices that means I had to check multiple inboxes several times per day to take advantage of IMAP.

All of that is why I use Mailbird Pro (I bought a lifetime license) on all of my Windows machines. There is a free version that limits you to a single account. It's not as slick looking but it works great for what I need. They also don't mind if you use your single non-commercial license to install on both your home PC and your laptop and your Windows Tablet.

I've been using Mozilla's Thunderbird for awhile now instead of Outlook. It is free and I don't have any complaints.

i have outlook 2013 office but i mostly use a free one - emclient - right now. works just fine. i used to use thunderbird also though what i like about emclient is that it's closer to outlook since that's what i used for the last 18 yrs or so.

I've used Outlook for many years.
Then when I moved, they, Comcast, jacked up the installation.
Lost everything. That is when I switched over to gmail.
Not the best choice, but its free.

Outlook.com is also free and a far better choice than Gmail, nicer interface, and it's not Google. Just FYI in case you haven't seen it.

As I recall, in Windows 8, you could download it free from the M$ store?

CORRUPT PSTs are no fun, nor is duped e-mail that has to be deleted...

I use Outlook 2010 on my PC. I use an Android with K-9 Mail and an iPad with the native email program.

I have 7 email accounts using 3 different domains. All the accounts are POP3.
The Android and iPad programs are set to NOT delete mail from the server. Outlook is set to delete from server after download.

Mails stay on the Android and iPad until I delete them from the devices.

Yes, if either device has not polled for mail before I run Outlook the newest mail will not be on the devices but it is on the PC.

                        Works for me.

Yeah that works... or you can set a couple days grace period before deletion on the Outlook machine allowing you to synch the devices if you wanted to. That's typically how I did it on multiple Outlook machines, or having more than one person checking the same pop3. You can have one delete after so many days or have them all delete after so many days.

IIRC a unified INBOX was easy in older Outlooks like 2003... but newer like 2016 I think even pop3 is a separate branch under the user@account.domain. At least by default. Works for me though as I used to set it up to move messages from multiple accounts to subfolders named for other accounts in old Outlook... now by default it is in its own branch or pst.

Essentials worked ok... doesn't Live Mail still work. You can still find it. I didn't try installing.
