    Website help

    Hello,

I have the site keepmyar15legal.com a long with .net and .org I have been sitting on them for sometime now. But now with the way things are going I feel it may be time to get them up and running. I do not have the time to take this on, and I'm looking for some help. I know the last thing we need is another forum site, so I am open to ideas.

I also have the facebook group of the same name

Please PM me you are interested.

    Thanks

it depends on what you want to do with the site.

I have used wix.com in the past and it is fairly easy and inexpensive. it is usually free unless you want to use the premium features, unfortunately connecting to a registered domain is one of those features. i got the premium for a store and connecting to a domain for something around $18 a month i think.

might be something to check out. here is my site for reference. no complex coding is used just drag and drop features. www.IVEngineeringDesigns.com

        Thanks for the info.

I didn't think of using that service

As for what to do with the site...

maybe a blog type site that has all the hard facts about the rifle and its current status. What AR means, brief history, the options (featureless vs non removable mag definition) include something like the flow charts for legality, and then get into the options of each.

once you get to the part about how to make the rifle compliant to each option you can sell the products there or get some sponsors and link to their products from your site directly.

basically it would become the collection of all the sticky threads about the rifles, the rules and the compliance part option threads in one place that is easy for someone to follow. then the web site can be passed out for anyone with general questions instead of having a new thread.

          just my $0.02

You're looking at something like a WordPress or other Content Management System site. It will allow you to write articles/posts, have pages, etc. Those platforms allow you to focus on content and appearance without being a technical wizard, as everything is the templates or otherwise guided. If you needed to could also integrate ecommerce solution if you were looking to sell goods related to the site content.

I have some fairly extensive experience in this realm. I would be willing to get you setup with a server, WordPress, Https/TLS, email at your domain w/ SPF DKIM, captcha/site hardening etc. as a contribution to the gun community.

Though, you'd really need to be committed to this as a project as I hate to do pro bono work that gets cast aside. I only do good work and I expect those that I collaborate with to contribute their abilities as well.

However, if there are any commercial aspects (product sales, advertising revenue) to the site or will be in the future we'll need to make other arrangements.

I'm not entirely clear what your goal is but you might also consider being a guest writer on other sites; if you think you have content that would truly be valuable you shouldn't have an issue getting published with someone that already has userbase. I would think long and hard about what value your site would provide and why you need your own podium to provide that value.
