Dell XPS Gaming Tower - Any value?

Was helping my Sister clear out stuff belonging to her Son who recently passed away from Cancer. He had a Dell XPS (730?) Series Gaming Tower sitting in his closet that he had picked up who knows where. Outer case has a few scuffs/scrapes but no dents and the XPS badges are broken - Drive Bays are empty.

From what I found doing searches, the setup is like 10 year old tech that Dell was asking cray-cray bucks for back then. Would it be worth anything putting it on Craigslist or is it basically e-waste?

That model is pretty old so not really worth much. Specs would help, but just from what I've seen, you might be able to get somebody to pay $100 for it, if you're lucky.

Reboot to factory and donate it.

Sorry to hear about your nephew.

Still good for games of that era, someone will buy it.

          possible uses

While no longer worth much for gaming - it's still a computer. You can use it to host various things - including a website. It's also a great gift for a young child who's interesed in learning about programming or computer stuffs.

That said, to answer your question a bit more directly: It's likely not gonna fetch a whole lot of money, if any. You'd likely get more enjoyment out of using it for one of the above mentioned purposes than whatever the $20-100 you may get trying to sell it will buy.

The case and watercooling system might be of value to someone.

You should toss it on ebay (sans harddrive), put a min bid of 100 bucks + shipping, I bet you sell it.

Thanks everyone - I slapped it on Craigslist for $50, kicked a couple of scammers and a lowballer to the curb, and ended up getting $50 out of it less $10 in fuel to meet the buyer halfway.

The amazing thing to me about this thread is that a 10 year old Dell computer was still working. I've owned several Dells that never made it past a year and a half.

Sounds like you've had crap luck. I still have 2 Dell laptops from the XP era which still work fine, never had an issue with either, and they're both between 6-10 years old. One I use exclusively for a single game which only runs well in XP, Empire Earth. Only reason I still have that one. I have absolutely no need for the other one, but I haven't gotten rid of it.

Yeah, I have had crap luck with Dell. Every one I owned was replaced at least once under warrantee then the replacements all died a quick death.
