Well that's something that folks will have to deal with when they go all digital. Earlier this year Logitech had an internet hub that was older that they decided they would software update and brick in favor of their newer devices.

The internet flew into a collective rage after that was announced... for damage control, they had to compensate the consumers that had the old but still functional hubs.

When you have a company like Apple that is notorious for their walled garden (Amazon as well), they will do stuff like that, in the hopes of keeping the user experience "smooth" and their consumer base happy. The funny thing is I imagine they slowed devices regardless of the battery health which would be more BS instead of just targeting specific devices with failing batteries which is what got them popped by the tech enthusiasts and not the iSheep.
