brother printer MFC-240C error code "50" NEED HELP

The printer has been sitting unused for around two weeks+ so last night without any previous warning it sent out this PRINT UNABLE "50" error code.
Can't find the hard copy of the in home manual to fix the "50". My bad.
We are on a dialup line.
Tried several times to download the whole users guide but all efforts failed midway through the loading cycle.
Please if you can give me a written or PDF step by step to fix my printer.
    Thanks,

This error is usually caused by the Carriage Encoder Strip being dislodged from the sensor mounted on the Print Head/Carriage Assembly. The upper case assembly will need to be opened, and the encoder strip will need to be put back into place. Its also possible that the error can also be caused by grease or fingerprints on the Encoder Strip, even if it is still in place

Brother is good about warranty work. I'd call Brother and have them send a tech out.

yeah, they should send a tech out.

consumer printers are consumables. replace the cartridge, if no work, warranty replacement, if out of warranty buy a new one.

        Better yet, stop printing.

          Nothing? No pathway to repair?

Should be a local printer repair company who could take care of that for you. Problem is that, for the cost to repair it, you may approach the cost of a new machine.
