I'm using the Raspberry Pi 3 for KODI Krypton 17.3 and it is working great in that capacity. There are lot of other things you can do with one of those however.

I just bought what I thought was the highest specs for an affordable ($80) media streamer...
      M8S PRO Android 7.1 TV Box Amlogic S912 64 bit 2 GHz Octa core DDR4 3GB & 32GB storage.
It seems to be more powerful than a Pi 3 & just like an Android OS -tablet with internet browser.
Loading KODI on it makes it a powerful media center

I have an old S5 phone with better specs than the Pi 3

Someone please explain the difference, how do have your Pi 3 set up?
Couldnt I achieve the same thing with the m8S mentioned above?

just basic RPI3 setup here, kodi latest, purely a media player on the tv due to the CEC adapter built in, plays movies from NAS.

future plans: rpi or arduino garage door opener, sprinkler controller (if time ever arrises..)

oh forgot, going to do a retro pie as well, can dual boot existing libreelec and retropie, but meh, easier to switch inputs

If you are just going to use it to run kodi I would just get whatever has the highest specs and is supported by kodi.

The Pi is a small, cheap, low power, linux computer. Its not designed to run android but I believe it is possible to install it, although I'm not sure why anyone would want to. The Pi is much more than a media player, its size, cost, and GPIO pins have made it very popular for all kinds of projects. Check out: https://hackaday.io/projects?tag=raspberry%20pi for some examples of stuff people have done with them.

I haven't looked into the Pi in a while, I still have a couple of the original model b. I'm glad to see the zero is in stock now, I wish I could order more than one at a time, for $5 ($10 for the wifi model) each I can't see any reason not to embed them in everything, after all everything is better with linux.

enough pie pastry for 1 double crust 9 inch pie
              4 cups raspberries
              1 cup sugar
              3 1/2 tbsp tapioca
              1/2 tsp cinnamon
              1 tbsp lemon juice
              4 tbsp butter
              2 tbsp cream

              Instructions

Roll out half of the pie pastry and lay out in pie plate. Make sure there is enough pastry to have it hang over the edge of the pie plate rim. Press down on all the edges and corners to make sure there are no air pockets. Use a knife to trim any off the pastry that is hanging over the rim of the plate.
Blitz the tapioca in a blender to grind it fine, almost like flour.
Mix together the raspberries, sugar, tapioca, cinnamon and lemon juice so the raspberries are well coated.
Pour the raspberry mixture into the pie shell. Dot with butter.
Roll out the top pie shell. Dip a finger in a little water and run it along the rim of the bottom pie shell. This helps the top crust stick and seal to the bottom.
Lay the top shell on top of the pie. Use a knife to trim any overhanging pastry.
Use two fingers to press on the rim pf the pie. Press down with the two fingers and push them together. this creates the scallop design on the rim of the pastry.
Use a pastry brush to brush cream on the top of the pie.
Cut 3 or 4 slits into the top of the pie.
Preheat oven for 425F. Bake for 15 minutes. Lower heat to 375F and bake 25 minutes more.
Cool on a wire rack for 30-45 minutes before serving.

I made a retro pie two weeks ago using this guide. I've been playing SNES Zelda and Mario World since!
