Lynq: tiny tracker that works without maps, bluetooth, or internet

Missing Lynq: this tiny tracker helps you find your kids without maps, bluetooth, or internet.
Pretty cool for a low cost around $90-100. Can see many uses for hiking, hunting, fishing, or festivals. Could also use on pets.

"you keep track of anyone for up to 5 miles — without relying on Bluetooth, maps, Wi-Fi, or cell networks.

Lynq operates across a decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) network that uses a mix of radio frequencies, a custom antenna, and a long-range low-powered chip."

The article doesn't exclude GPS. Without GPS, you have to have at least 2 other devices to triangulate the position. Looks to be a new implementation of a traditional FRS radio. "Under exceptional conditions, (such as hilltop to hilltop) communication is possible over 60 km (37 mi) or more, but that is rare. Under normal conditions, with line of sight blocked by a few buildings or trees, FRS has an actual range of about 0.5 to 1.5 km (0.3 to 1 mile)."

For $25 bucks T- Mobile sells the Tile , small tag that can track whatever it is attached to from your phone . Dogs , Cats , keys, husband/wife/spouse car . you can find anything it is attached to anywhere .

      Gotta love technology.
Bweise says "I have to say the situation was not at all helped by 22 yr old former Airsoft douches who kept touting here, "But possession is not illegal!" "

Fighting on the internet is like being in the special Olympics , everybody wins but your still retarded.

Librarian " Calguns is not a 'general discussion board".

You are correct on the technical explanation, and the need for GPS. It seems they edited the article because originally it did specifically exclude GPS.

I literally copied the article title in the main post I made above, but it seems that was an error and they fixed it. Thanks for the correction.

Tile doesn't track much of anything. It plays a sound *if* you are close enough for bluetooth to trigger it. And the app will only give you the location of your tile *if* another tile user happens to get within bluetooth range of it, if they have bluetooth enabled, and only provide a location for that moment. It is nearly useless as a tracker, unless you plan to lose something at a Starbucks or other hipster hangout.

It would actually be cheaper to just give the kid a cheap cell phone. Low end
phones are under $20. Load a suitable app & you can track anywhere there's
            phone coverage.
