    AT&T DSL Bandwidth Cap Overcharging?

My parents have ATT Dsl in a rural area where that's all they can get and it has a 150gb cap. Past few months they have hit it every single billing cycle so they call ATT, complain and it's taken off. However when I look in their router's statistics they are way under the cap, there is around 30% difference between ATT numbers and their router's which doesn't make sense.

All those companies are known not to be accurate

I am comparing it day to day, funny how it is inaccurate in ATT favor every time.

DSL...that is a throwback. I can't believe how much bandwidth I use now with no torrenting. 950GB last month......150GB seems like basic service now.

I'm surprised to hear AT&T is waiving the over limit charges for your parents. That is one of the many reasons I dumped everything AT&T last year. I truly hate that company.

I switched from AT&T due to data caps.
I switched from Comcast due to data caps.
I'm currently using Sonic.com who resells AT&T DSL without data caps.

Someone could be stealing your line, do your parents live in a apartment housing?

ATT lies. They scam! My advice is to dump them ASAP. It was so bad at my house that I couldn't load any video's on youtube.

Unless there's someone hiding out in the woods/orchards with a laptop I doubt that is the case with the op, unless it's semi rural as opposed to actual rural. My parents farm is semi rural with our closest neighbors being 200 yards in the closest directions and that's not close enough to pick up their wifi signal.
