Try converting to a file type that gopro likes or this , https://filmora.wondershare.com/vide...e-windows.html

I'm a Television and Film editor by trade. Industry standard is Avid Media Composer, but it costs around $600 a year (subscription).

Also used are Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. These all will be overkill unless you're song some serious multi-cam editing with heavy VFX.

"Free" video editing software will be like Windows Movie Maker or Apple iMovie. Perfectly fine for home projects.

Can always get a copy of QuickTime Pro 7 to do for fileconversions. Might find one for free. Apple ProRes 422 is always a good codec to use.

          This.
Avid and final cut are what most studios use for their post production.
But it sounds like you need iMovie as suggested

I'll take a look at it. Used the free trial for magix and after a few hours I was getting the hang of it.

I had the funny idea of adding sfx and visuals of Star Wars blasters coming from real guns haha would any of the programs you mentioned offer those capabilities of editing them in?

Depends how good you are at compositing and if you have clean source material or at least green screened material you can key out.

If not, time to learn Adobe After Effects....but adding blaster effects is possible even with the FREE software, and worth trying first since it's free.

SFX are easy to add in any video editing software. Best non-linear video editing software for VFX work is probably Adobe Premiere since it seamlessly integrates with Adobe Creative Suite. Kinda clunky for just editing though IMO.

Free like Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. I think those come with Windows or Apple OS.

I use the Adobe Suite...Premiere Pro CS6, After Effects CS6, Encore, Media Encoder, Edge Animate, Audition. In concert with Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks and Prelude I can do just about anything.

If you want software deals, If you are NOT a student, go to the local city college, sign up for one class. Get a Student ID and buy all of your software at 80%+ discounts with a Student Discount. I paid $899 for the Adobe Master Collection CS6 when it retailed at $2,899.

In perfect world I would edit using Avid.

You can download AVID Media Composer for free and use it for 30 days at no cost. I use it every day and it is industry standard.

I don't even own a mac, but I have used iMovie and thought it was great. Also easy to use.

Its too easy to get lost in Premiere and there really isn't anything simple to use on the PC side that feels geared towards the hobbyist.
