Mozilla did an update today (16th) and several of the gun related sites I go to are showing a popup saying it is an "unsecured site" and proceed at your own risk...any thoughts? I like Mozilla but have noticed that they are doing some strange things these days and are making some political statements that are very partisan...thanks

Chrome and, apparently, Firefox are pushing that every site use HTTPS. Change your URL to HTTPS and Firefox will shut up.
GoDaddy recently tried to upsell me a certificate so my 2 sites would be HTTPS.
But, as I found recently, YouTube vids here in Calguns may not display. At least in Safari on an iPad.#NotMyPresident

I've had the 'insecure' flag option enabled in Chrome for non-https sites for a long time.
But as far as browser default showing this, it is only supposed to be enforced on any pages with a login (password) field right now.
As far as https vs http, and promoting http over ssl, I am a proponent of an https world.

Have you heard of Letsencrypt? It's an open source, free, third-party certificate that is really easy to set up through SSH on your server. Certificates need to be updated every 3 months but, it's painless.Chrome and, apparently, Firefox are pushing that every site use HTTPS. Change your URL to HTTPS and Firefox will shut up.

All it means is that the data you send to calguns is unencrypted, so if someone really wanted to snoop on the content of the HTTP messages you send to calguns (like your login name/password, the content of your forum posts, etc.) they would theoretically have an easier time than with HTTPS.
Your communication with calguns has always been unencrypted, but like the others have mentioned you're getting the message now because Firefox and many other browsers are now pushing for sites to use HTTPS because it's more secure.
I agree that Mozilla does partisan things but I wouldn't say this is them being partisan towards gun enthusiasts.Comment

Same here with Chrome. But then again HTTPS matters more for ecommerce sites where transactions are processed. If you are not using CC its fine.Tech Geek and Writer having command over Hard Drives, Servers and Cloud Computing
