Wireless router to wireless router/modem Wireless Cascading

Linksys E1200 as a wireless card?

Want to connect using the wireless router as a repeater or bridge?

DD-wrt fails so I can't upgrade to cracked firmware. I('ve searched around and can't seem to get it to work wireless.

    Any ideas?

If you want a nice sane linux router get a edgerouter and a seperate ap for wireless. If you do you may never go back to all-in-one end-user grade crud.

How much is your sanity worth?

Put 2 routers on different sides of the house, on different channels... don't use a repeater.

You could also look at 802.11AC routers that will do AC, N and G (disable B), or two of them.

(Don't put WiFi routers in wiring closet, enclosed in metal. [Are they called home MDFs?])

Used Xirrus APs are cheap on eBay and can do spectrum analysis, and although you may have to factory them with a serial cable, the graph is worth it to know what channels are unused in your area:

      Before:

      After, with WiFi on:

I found that Channel 11 on the 2.5GHz range, and 149 in the 5GHz range were virtually unused in my immediate area, so I chose those channels.

There is an app for Android phones that shows what chans and freq are used in your immediate area. It is called WiFi Analyzer. I check randomly to see if a neighbor has started using my channel. I change when I have to.

          OK I am connecting to a Frontier Modem/router (A) with a Linksys E1200v2 (B).

I have upgraded to DDWRT Firmware on E1200v2 (B) which, now allows Repeater/Bridge function.

I am extending the base (A) to (B) or (B) to (A) WIRELESSLY.

What I have found out is either, I have to clone the MAC Addy or enter all specific (A) setting including wireless channel and security. (PITA!)

But I am going to get this done. I have hooked it up to (A) via Cat5 hoping it would help program settings. I can get it to work wired (obviously) but that does not allow me to extend the network wirelessly.

Any thought that may make it easier? I have the cracked DDWRT now so it can function this way.
