    Galaxy S5 Message+ problem

Can't send or receive text messages if I don't have a WiFi signal. Does not seem right. No idea what setting to check.

yep searched after posting and saw it's a verizon specific app.

perhaps try turning off "integrated messaing", using your phone's default sms app, or calling verizon for help.

Verizon Messages (Message+) has been discontinued. Find additional information about the retirement of Verizon Messages (Message+).

How is Integrated Messaging different from the Verizon Messages (Message+) app?

Integrated Messaging is a service that works with Verizon Messages (Message+) to let you send and receive text and multimedia messages seamlessly on your smartphone, tablet, computer or the web using your Verizon mobile number. The service syncs up to 90 days of messages across your devices. You can also use Verizon Messages (Message+) to send and receive messages, without the Integrated Messaging service. To use the Verizon Messages (Message+) app without the multi-device sync feature, simply unsubscribe from the Integrated Messaging service following these steps:

From the app, tap the Menu icon
        Tap Settings.
        Scroll to and tap Unsubscribe.

Your account will be deleted, and you can continue to use the Verizon Messages (Message+) app without the Integrated Messaging service.

Well, as far as I could tell I was not using Integrated but in checking I saw an option 'Sync Over WiFi Only' and it was checked. I unchecked it. Still can't send if WiFi off.

Well, ignoring the dire warnings I deleted my account. Turned WiFi back on and sending a message fails. Had to turn Integrated back on to send using WiFi.

Just discovered I can send and receive messages from another Verizon user when WiFi is off.

Found the solution and it is 'bad'. In the Messages+ app info screen (not Settings) there is an option 'Send Premium text message'. If that is checked I can send messages with WiFi off. The options are Ask, Never allow and Always allow. I set it to Ask. The problem is even with WiFi on it still asked. Meaning it is using my data plan.

Now, it makes no difference to me as my account has unlimited messages.
