Old Computers: Destroy Hard Drive, Anything Else?

I have a couple old computers to recycle.

I will remove and destroy the hard drives.

Just wearing my , do I need to destroy any other boards?

    Thanks.

      1) Submerge in water for 52 minutes
      2) Apply Heavy magnets to all components
      3) Destroy all components with hammer
      4) Burn with fire

HD, RAM, and BIOS battery like someone said above.

after that it is just circuit boards and wires.

recycle it and let someone recover the 1 oz of gold to put into a new circuit board.

1 oz.: I think you might be missing a decimal point or two, but thanks!

Tinfoil. Ram doesn't store anything long term, and the bios battery would reset the bios to factory defaults; time, clocks, and other system data, but nothing identifiable to anyone.

When i have helped friends move, I see old PCs....

I offer to yank the hard drive... some have 3-5 old PCs...

I never have worried about the memory

Hard drives and either a drill or hammer

removing the bios battery doesnt do anything with newer boards. that is old tech. new boards require jumpers to be moved to short board and reset cmos. this is why businesses in the financial sector are required to destroy mainboards now.

our auditors require removing/destroying hdd/ssd, mainboard and memory modules. basically anything can can retain data.
