if you want to do online matchmaking or voice communication with the switch you will need to have a smartphone because apparently Nintendo has never heard of a Bluetooth headset... i seriously hope there is some sort of matchmaking and communication service through the switch itself at launch, because it seems super clunky to use smartphone to talk to teammates while playing a game, then have to use the phone to find or setup a lobby.

Learn about the different memberships and their benefits, so you can decide how to take your Nintendo Switch gaming experience to the next level.
yes and no. the online play and chat companion app is part of the subscription service, but you don't have to pay anything to download the app. technically if you dont have unlimited data using the app will cost you.
you know, i think i know the reason they went with this stupid app over Bluetooth connection and online services through console. battery life, because they wanted to make a compact system you can play on the go the battery life is a major trouble area. pack extra stuff in then you chew straight through the battery and bigger batteries kills the compact size. by separating online services and voice chat to a smartphone app, they save power drain on the systems battery. so if the phone screen is up the entire time you are playing and chatting with your team, you will probably chew right through your phones battery lol.Last edited by mossy; 01-20-2017, 3:20 AM.best troll thread in calguns history

Nintendo is slowly going the way of sega, and im sad to say it.being the owner of first gen genesis then every other subsequent system afterwards along with nes, they just dont launch enough titles or do much to compete with sony or ms.switch imho,is just a device to try and keep them afloat.i hope it makes it because I preordered one and have never been more excited towards the convect of a gaming system since i was a kid in the 80'severyone has a phtographic memory, some just dont have the filmComment
