Can you get cable internet without the phone and TV stuff?

I'd like to get cable access to the internet, because it's faster than DSL. However, I DO NOT want cable TV or IP Phone service. I'm having trouble finding any company that will decouple these though. DO you know of one?

Usually yes. We only have internet service through WaveBroadband. Not sure if they also service the area but I think so.We also have their 250 connection which has been very nice speed wise. They have a "can I get Wave" zip code entry check here:

I have unbundled cable modem service at both our residences - Comcast in San Jose and Cox in Las Vegas. You lose all bundling discounts of course, so your non-promotional price is pretty high. I pay something like $69.95 to Comcast for Performance Pro (100Mbps) and $77.99 to Cox for Preferred (50Mbps).

Since only one company has the cable TV franchise for your city, you typically only have one vendor for cable Internet service. If you live in an MDU, they may have contracted with someone other than whoever owns the cable TV franchise.

Comcast provides internet only (HSI), I've had it for years, only thing is it might be a little more $$ because its not bundled with anything. Give 'em a call 800-934-6489.

I have comcast. I had internet only last year, this year when I went to renew they threw in a cable box for free, higher download speeds, free year of hbo go. I don't have to use the cable box, but they have to ship it. Not so bad. I watch local channels on my phone or my computer. Thats the cable package that was included in the deal.

Yes you can. You usually "pay" more as cable companies like to bundle services to make you think like you are getting more for less even though you are actually paying more.

I recently ditched my TV channel package from my cable co, so now i'm only paying for internet and phone. If you don't watch much TV ( I don't) the tv part of any cable package is the biggest rip off, IMO, as you are paying for a lot of stuff you don't actually use.

We mostly consume entertainment via the internet now anyway, so it's worked out nicely for us.

Currently I'm using Spectrum cable internet and so far they have been really good. Only $39.99 pr month, no contract and can cancel anytime.

Even if you don't own a TV or a phone, a bundle can give you a good price and you will not be tempted to upgrade services you don't use. Calling the provider can sometimes get you a better deal than what they publish, so it's worth a try-

For Internet-only FiOS, 85/85 for like $65/month... depending on location, of course.

I personally had to cancel services, and then I scheduled an installation for the day it was disconnected. Nothing really happened, but a switch got flipped and I had to go to a web site to agree to the terms.
Dropping Phone and TV would not have saved me anything on the same account, so I had to pay a $60-90 install fee to get the other services cut.

I recently tried TimeWarner and it was terrible compared to FiOS.
Since trying FiOS I made sure it was available in all locations I have moved to, when renting a few places, and then again when I bought my home.

i have been living off a cell phone for decades. who needs a land line?

it comes down to "pick your poison".
and who provides service in your area.

forget the dish for web as you must have a phone hard land line to get web service.

Thanks guys, I use ancient Earthlink, and my base bill is $40 for 2 Mbs Yes TWO MEGABITS. With taxes and stuff it ends up $50 for 2Mbs so getting 100Mbs for $80 is a ... way more bits per buck!

Comcast/XFinity will sell you internet only.

We use SONIC.net. My bill is $55 dollars a month TOTAL with all the taxes and access fees.etc.

It is AT&T uVerse. The ATT guy even shows up to verify the line and give you your self install modem
