    Email providers

After the recent yahoo security issue I am looking to drop yahoo and get a new email provider. I am only looking for basic email functions and since I do not own a cell phone want one that does not require a cell phone number for verification. I live in an area that does not have cell service so if I need a cell phone I am SOL. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    TIA

Gmail, no need to enable verification unless you like being hacked as yahoo.
Enable wifi calling to have your cell working at home( if your provider/phone supports it).

Use Google Mail but with a FIDO U2F device for your second factor authentication device (such as a Yubikey).

I run Google Mail as my MX for several of my domains, and I utilize TOTP with a smartphone app (Duo as opposed to the Google Authenticator) but also a Yubikey as a second option.

You should look into using something like AT&T microcell, it lets you setup your own mini cell tower at home using your internet connection.

        Details here:
AT&T Cell Booster uses your current internet service to create a strong, secure, and shareable signal in your home.

I have bad reception at home and this is how I get good cell phone coverage, I work from home all the time when not traveling so it is important to have good cell phone coverage at home.

This looks like it will work, but the next question is, are there any free email providers that do not require U2F? My main email account is through my ISP and they do not require U2F. I use the Yahoo account for anything that might generate spam and was hoping there were other free email accounts that did not use the U2F.

          Bigbearbear,
Thanks for the idea, but since I am retired, other than yahoo asking for a cell number for U2F I do not need a cell phone. I would rather not buy extra equipment just to be able access email.
