Recommendation for hybrid DVR / NVR security camera system?

So my present home DVR security system is getting long in the tooth. I've seen the new camera systems in the stores and I've been really impressed at the image quality these systems have. Our present Q-See system is 7 years old and the images remind me of those cop car chase scenes on TV. The user interface is difficult, written in techinese, possibly with Google Translate.

I'm looking for a new system, but our house is wired with old school coaxial RG59 cable for the cameras. It is also wired with Cat5, but those lines terminate at indoor locations mainly suitable for communication, not for cameras. The house is larger than average and pretty spread out that Wi-Fi signals from some camera locations may not be strong enough especially at high resolution. We now have 8 wired cameras and plan to add at least 4 more.

Now I'm looking for a new system and have been impressed with the new NVR systems quality. Any recommendations of what brands or company that make hybrid DVR/NVR systems? I would like to keep using some of the old coaxial network at some locations in the house, but for crucial locations like entrances, we'll have to grin and bear the Cat5 rewire costs.

It seems that the systems available at major retail stores are only pure DVR or pure NVR based. If I look at security camera specialty websites, they seem to sell hybrid systems with no-name brand. I seem to recall a few years ago, there was an obscure Asian brand that people spoke highly of, but they were sold only at specialty CCTV shops and probably took a hardware engineer to configure and maintain.

    Suggestions, please?

I have access to hybrid systems , IP and analog.
Budget will dictate..but why not just go with a HD over analog system ?

Can get up to 3MP quality using the existing wiring .

Thanks! I'm all for keeping the existing wiring, but the DVR systems I have seen so far can only display up to 1024. Do you have a recommendation as to which manufacturers I can look up? The budget depends much on the cost of the system, which is not to say it is unlimited

We use a company by the name of lts but it is basically re-branded hik vision stuff.
The technology is tvi or turbo HD. There is also extreme hdsdi that it's pretty good.

Also another company called avycon .

We usually see prices around 500 per camera installed with storage included.. being you have wires in place you could probably get to about 2-300 depending on how many cameras you get and how capable you are

I'm sorry those were IP camera prices, you should be able to get tvi in there for far less. Main cost is storage, their software allows for the option of a nas cloud storage

Best hybrid is DIY... LESS PEOPLE TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH SECURITY AT YOUR PLACE...

An old repurposed, cheap thin client where it can't be found is a good idea in my book.

Go for the QSEE HD over analog. Use existing coax, replace cameras and drop in a new DVR. Done in an hour or so.

I just bought and installed a Amcrest CCT 8 Camera system. It's great. Can send alerts, take stills upon motion detection, cloud storage, smart phone, tablet and computer viewing.

                    Hey OP.

Where are you located ? I'll be removing 8 used HD cameras this week.. maybe you can install them and see how they work before spending a bunch of money
