    Regarding iPhone Screen Protectors...

So I have an iPhone 6S plus. Switched from an old Note 4 and zero complaints whatsoever. When I bought it they added a screen protector (I think Zagg) that was awesome. After nearly a year, the protector started looking worn. I see why they call it "glass" because the protector started spiderwebbing and cracking when I tried to remove it.

I used this web article as the guide to buy a replacement:

The #1 on the list was a "Moshi Visor". It had the retail price at $40 but it was less than $10 on fleabay. It seemed very durable, although a bit thick. I liked the way it installed with no bubbles. Anyone who has installed these protectors knows what a PITA it can be to get the angle right and push out all the bubbles. Well this thing was a breeze and looked awesome. The only problem was that I realized after a few hours that the thickness completely kills the responsiveness of the screen. I don't know what these people were thinking, but WTH is the point of a screen protector that requires the hammer of Thor in order to register a keystroke?? I don't know how the #1 rated screen protector on this review could be the best when it is utterly unusable.

Anyway, if anyone has any non corporate funded fluff reviews or suggestions, I'd love to hear it.. Thanks!

The problem is you took the opinion of one single writer as gospel. Better to look at Amazon reviews. At least with Amazon you get a larger pool of opinions. I generally find I prefer the glass type screen protectors. They clean easier, feel right, has no responsiveness issues and look better than the film or non-solid type protectors.

Been using the Spigen glass protectors since the 6s came out and still looks brand new. Got it on Amazon for $8.00. They usually come in a 2 pack

I appreciate that and agree regarding the feel. I also had an issue with screen protectors feeling tacky. After a while I realized that I should not have the phone sitting on the vanity face up while spraying a liberal second and third coat of aquanet to prop up the pompadour. Also gotta wipe the Tres Flores from the hands before picking that bad boy up. That goo works it's way into the speaker and you will sound like you are talking through a sock.

Too many of the reviews on Amazon these days are written by people who received the product for free in exchange for a review, and thus not worth a damn.

That's why you need to look at products that have a large number of reviews, not just ones with a dozen or so.

i recommend the peel glass screen protector. What makes this protector unique is that it goes edge to edge. It makes it look seemless with the phone and you can't tell that you're running a screen protector. It works seemless with the peel case and will not lift the edges. Never had any issues with responsiveness either. I just picked another one up for the 7 PLus, and it's similarly as good. https://buypeel.com/products/peel-gl...reen-protector

I like the tempered glass protectors, and have been using JETech brand with good success on several phones including 6 plus.

                    2 pack is $7 https://www.amazon.com/JETech-Temper...=Jetech+6+plus

They have good customer service - they sent me a new pack when I screwed one up during application (operator error), no questions. Product reviews are good on Amazon, and check their other phone styles for more reviews - people like them.

They do not go all the way to the edge and this is genius, because your case will not interfere with it and lift it. I have had nothing but trouble with protectors that go to the extreme edge, and when they are not glass I have always had to trim them away from the edge.

The Corning "gorilla" glass that most mfgrs use is incredibly tough and scratch resistant, and negates the need for any protector. Any direct sharp impact on the surface will shatter the product, regardless of what's covering it. You're absolutely wasting your money to buy these things. Not to mention the loss of functionality in some cases. Solution looking for a problem, imo.

I picked this up on your recommendation. So far it seems to work splendidly. Thanks!

We are talking about an item that costs about what you would pay for a cup of coffee, and may replace once a year, if that. I have seen Gorilla Glass screens that were scratched but not cracked, so I beg to differ.

All do respect, but you're dead wrong. The mgfrs would not go to all the trouble to spec a product like the Corning glass only to be embarrassed by easy breakage or scratching. They do it because it is a very proven product over the last 5-6 years, and very much works the way it's supposed to. The Corning glass does not scratch easily, and is quite resistant to damage despite what you say. But enough of the folks always happily pay for a product to fix something that never needed fixing in the first place. That is marketing right upside your face like a club.

I am always up for a friendly debate, but you are completely FOS. The above post smacks of a smarmy pseudo intellectual elitism that anyone who adds a screen protector to their phone is some sort of chump being led around by the nose via clever marketing.

Never mind my personal testimony of seeing scratched up iPhones. It takes 2 seconds to see hundreds of pictures online of the same thing. I can only conclude that you are an employee of Corning, or have some other reason to dismiss an issue as fake that has been shown true endless times.
