Need to get rid of my IED

So Samsung is pulling the plug on the Note 7, which is old news. Sad, it's the first time I've actually been happy with a new phone. The size is perfect, the display is better than anything else, and the memory is huge. I have a 256gb memory card added. I don't want the Apple, so what are some viable other options? I've read some stuff on the new Google Pixel XL, but has anyone here had any actual experience with it?

I just spent a bunch of money on a bunch of braided charger cables and a wireless charger too, so frustrating.

    Rant/frustration over.

Lots of Youtube reviews by now for Pixel. If you're on Verizon, they announced that their Pixels will get Android updates at the same time as direct-from-Google Pixels. And I think Verizon no longer locks their phones.

How about a Samsung s7 Edge. Similar size, lots of the same good stuff (waterproof, wireless charging, SD card, etc).

Anyone else have issues with the Samsung phones cracking or getting loose around the charging port? That plastic seems to break easily, at least for 2 of my phones (Galaxy 3 and Note 4..) I had to hold the charger at a funny angle after a while to get it to connect and charge.

Yes, I have (2) Galaxy 3s that have charging problems, no cracking, slightly loose. One is heavily used and won't hold a good charge. The other charges slow now.

I googled it and there was mention of the internal housing needing a solder type repair.

I purchased an after-market charging cord/cable at Walmart, the phone charges very fast now. I think it was the cable.

I have the J7, which is the less expensive version of the S7. It works just fine for my needs. It's a little bit larger than the S7, but a youtuber did a side by side review of the two phones and found that the S7 is only slightly faster.

My only complaint of the J7 is that it's a little too large and can be kind of awkward to hold.

I just bought a Pixel (128 GB in Very Black).

My delivery date is for late November.

Hopefully my Note 7 doesn't catch fire until then but I am glad I got a 128 GB micro SD out of this lol.

I've never owned a Samsung phone until the Note 7 and seeing the plastic around the charging port really made me question the build quality.

Definitely have been super careful plugging in my device and letting it be when doing so.

I have never paid over $139 for any T-Mobile Android phone that I have owned (if I recall correctly), and they have never had a problem running anything. (Although I did pay WAY TOO MUCH for my lady's phone, in payments none the less.)

I typically don't buy anything with a proprietary (or a new standard) charger until the charge port becomes the industry standard... cheaper replacements and everyone (aside from iPhruity device users) already has one, if I forget mine, or one of my 12 $2.50 backups.

Funny, when I was looking up your charger USB-C (as I had no clue it was the new type) I came across this:
"Material: New ABS fire and explosion protection ROHS STANDARD" desc for this:
