    2016 Micro-ATX Build

Just wanted to post up my latest build. It's nothing fancy, but definitely gets the job done running Battlefield 1 on Ultra@144hz.

Only built last week, so I have yet to put much time into it to tweak and overclock it anymore than it is now (3.6ghz).

    Gigabyte Gaming G1 mobo
    I7 6700K Skylake CPU
    Corsair H80i closed loop cooler
    Corsair AX860 Modular PSU
    Corsair Vengeance 16gb DDR4 Ram
MSI GTX 1080 Gaming Z GPU
    Samsung 850 Pro SSD
    Seagate Barracuda HDD

This build just replaced my 3 year old Haswell build I had posted up in the marketplace. That PC still runs like a champ and is plenty fast, but I wanted something newer

      Why a micro-ATX board?

And yeah, a 1080 will plow through just about any game out right now. What are the temps looking like?

What did it cost to build?

          I'm limited in space.

If I cleared up the extra bedroom I have in my house I'd have a dedicated gaming room but right now it has a few bikes, treadmill in there and so forth.

I won't reap the benefits of a full sized build because I'm not an extreme overclocker, and have no intentions of adding anything else.

The case is from my old build, cost me about $58 or so on newegg when it was on sale.

The CPU was $319 (sale on newegg, Fry's matched it), AX860 was $125 (sale on newegg that Fry's also matched), Corsair H80i I know I got it on sale but that was 3 years ago, GTX 1080 was $719 which finding alone was tough to do!

The motherboard I bought about a month ago and I did so before everything else because it came out to $110 after the mail-in-rebate and sale price.

As far as temps go, I'll have to post that after this labor day weekend.

CPU@3.6ghz full load and stress testing won't exceed 80c.

The GPU in "oc mode" doesn't even hit 60c when playing BF4, but it does begin to rev up when playing BF1 with over 64 people on the map. This is on Windows 10 with DX12 enabled.

Been on BF1 for about 2 hours straight now and my GPU never exceeded 72c whereas the CPU never exceeded 73c.

No AC or Fan on inside my room, pretty warm ambient temps.

Cute, but your peripherals better match the cuteness.

I've been using a Logitech G710+ mechanical keyboard for 3 years as well as a Logitech G500S mouse.

The G710+ replaced a Filco keyboard I used to have (MX Blue switches) but I liked the brown instead. May go back to a new Filco again...we'll see.

As for headset, I run a Logitech G930. Dated but I love it.

                        Gamer cases look wonderful,
IF you never have to swap a PS, or SATA drive quickly to get important files in a hurry, as you can't get to the cables...

                          Depends on the build.

Cables in my case are routed on the backside. Easy to swap out components especially since nothing is in the way (as you can see).

That isn't ATX, the power supply is on the bottom. The main board might be designed to micro ATX specs but the case is btx standard
... Which is superior in air flow and cooling. Still, nice build. On a budget too. Kind of silly that the gfx card now cost the same or more than the pricy Intel CPUs. But these days the gfx is more core to end performance than the CPU.
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

ATX has more to do with the motherboard design and general form factor, not necessarily a case size or configuration.

As far as air flow and cooling, the jury is still out on positive or negative pressure, or PSU configuration and its mostly speculation. Not to mention way too many parts configurations to really do any science on it.
