Leave this Page?

Just recently, whenever I close a page, I will sometimes get a little pop-up that asks: "Are you sure you want to leave this page?" and you get the option to leave or stay.

Where in the hell did this snippet of digital fungus come from and how do I get rid of it? I mean, damn: if I close a window I really do want to leave that page and I do not feel like playing 20 questions with a computer.

When this happens on the page you are closing did you happen to start typing something in the message box and then decide to not post it? If so the popup is trying to warn you that you will loose what you wrote if you close the page.

1. Usually it happens if it thinks you entered something on the page and haven't finished it yet. Like started typing in a post box.

2. Get a better browser. Chrome or firefox. Be sure to add an adblocker. That's because most viruses these day come through infected ads.

Happens to me on Chrome as well. I just click leave.

it's a result of the return value from onbeforeunload.
