    Videos not being displayed?

Recently any forum that has a "You-Tube" video or the like, the video is just a black square. I don't find any settings for turning or off videos and I have not made any changes.

IE is the browser I generally use for Calguns.net. and the one that displays the "black square",

Foxfire displays the video but has it's own set of issues with being slow and script errors so I try not to use it.

Any ideas as to why the videos are not being displayed?

Past issues with Chrome makes me want to avoid it if possible.

    Respectfully
    Kyle

Same thing here. I saw my Adobe Flash Player needed an update. Let me test to see if it works.

Yeah, the first thing I did was make sure Flash Player was up to date. Since my Microsoft Windows Up Dater went south I'm not sure what controls what.

        Thanks Kokopelli for the reply.

go to tools ( gear upper right) in browser

            choose Internet options

go to advanced tab ( should be right most tab)

use software rendering , or gpu rendering ( first option ) if checked , uncheck , if not checked , check it .

Close , then reopen browser . try your videos then .

^ I tired this, and it made no difference.

              Vids work using FireFox.

This is some sort of Microsoft browser issue.
I know MS said they were going to drop Flash Player, but FP is used everywhere.
A better solution needs to be found than just turning it off.

Did you just do the latest "upgrade", there is/was a problem with one of the updates that killed them. You might have to uninstall the cumulative update for ie they just did as well . They said it was an important update but system runs fine with it removed .

Well, it can't be a Microsoft Update in my case because the Updater died on my system back in early June. Haven't found a fix for that either.

Odd though I get the updates for MS Defender and it auto loads regardless of settings---and keeps running using up resources until stopped.

Is there anyone that's using IE that DOES get the videos?

I use IE 11 , had the problem . Restored to earlier time ( before last update )

                        turned off automatic updates .

rebooted system .had computer check for updates . unchecked the culminated update .actually hid it . installed updates ( minus the culminated "important"), reboot system as required.

opened ie , went to tools , internet options , advanced tab , to accelerated graphics , turned on "use GPU rendering" , closed ie , opened ie and boom videos again.

Are you using an original copy of OS ? might be the difference if not .

                            Your welcome.

After spending more time on this when I restored my computer it went back to IE 10. That's what gave me back the videos , IE 11 doesn't play well with FP .

It is a long drawn out process to get IE 10 back

You un-install IE 11 and re boot . That will have you end up with IE 8 , or IE9 ( with luck you get to IE9 ) then download IE 10 from Microsoft and install .

But make sure you shut off automatic updates or you wind up back at IE11 when they update your system.

or easier is just to got to chrome ( ewww), firefox , or something else as default browser . A big PITA back and forth . First they try and go to windows 10 , over and over then they do this .
