If I recall correctly AVG or Avast were saying that they didn't support XP anymore with a warning, but I don't remember if it was during install, or a warning after installation...

Just place the Windows XP device on its own network segment and rely on IDS to alert you of any issues.
Anti-virus won't really help you. I would just want to know when it gets hit via IDS rather than relying on some AV software, then just react accordingly.
But you can still airgap that computer and transfer the scans to another networked computer via a trusted removable device (e.g. USB stick) to email.
