    Maybe a stupid question. If this is a laptop did you remove the bios battery and the laptop battery?

      Does it give you a error code number when you put in a wrong password or does it spit out the serial number?

        no it will just say invalid password in the blue box...above that box is the service tag number

                      There are password generators that work off the service tags, should have googled them and tried to see if they would give you a working pass.
