The very first and only replacement battery purchased from APC will warranty your UPS no matter its age or how Long its been out of warranty

I had an issue once where I snapped the cable on my APC SMART UPS installing the official replacement pack. I kept my mouth shut, and they sent me a replacement free of charge.

Tempest in San Jose makes all kinds of batteries for UPS and Wheelchairs., I would recommend them, because they are local.

All ups that I have ever own use sealed lead acid

I've bought a battery once from one place that guaranteed by google to send me a new battery in a few days and then take 7 days to come here. And I was able to get them to knock down the price.

Batteries plus and tempest and just about all the automotive repair shops like sears are really good to take your old battery pack for recycling and they won't change you. . You don't have to order any recycling service like APC sells

orchard supply won't take back lead acid.

I own like 6 Uninteruptabe Power Supplies. My Smart UPS is the oldest and still going strong.

INTEL and other computer manufacturers have implemented energy star 5.0 and a lot of newer desktops require PURE sine wave output. And not Step. A computer with this new energy star 5.0 will not boot unless you use a UPS that has it. The power supplies with 5.0 are called "active PFC"

If you use a normal UPS with Active PFC power supply, there is a good chance that the system might shutdown every time the UPS switches over to the battery.

I bought my replacement batteries for my APC 1500 UPS recently from Amazon.com, they're the 3rd party types but seems to be working fine.

      This one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It does not come with the cable that connects the 2 batteries together but you can simply use the one that came with your UPS.

Oh, I should of mentioned that as long as you buy APC batteries, it continues to cover the connected equipment if it is ever damaged by power line transients on an AC power line. Thats why they cost $80 for a RBC109 versus $39 for a generic.

Personally, I just buy the generics.

apc has a trade ups deal where instead of buying a new battery pack, they will knock down the price if you send them an older unit. I've never done that because the price Is knocked off the msrp and most stores have a lower price without needing to send them an old unit

I got $12 knocked off my last ups at staples for recycling ink jet cartridges
