If you're okay with a screwdriver, fix it yourself. Buy new hinges on eBay.

I owned a HP dv 8000 where the hinges would break like clock work ever year. The Chinese aftermarket ones surprisingly lasted longer than the oem. Hinges are not difficult to replace and I am fairly certain you will be able to find a YouTube video walking you through the process.

depends on the laptop..., it might not be worth fixing if it's a cheapo. labor for that kind of thing is going to run you about $100 minimum. i vote for the DIY route with spare parts bought online, if you have the patience...

How much time do you want to spend on it?

Is it work milking this one, vs getting it replaced?

Those are the 2 questions you have to ask yourself...

IMO worth getting the price of parts. I found out that the guys who repair phone screens can also repair laptops (within their parameters (screen ect.).

Go with your gut. I found some interesting and motivated folks by just talking to them face to face.
