Caveman need help computer best for

Well guys I know nothing of the PC world my needs are simple, music and pictures but the biggest thing I would like to start doing is me and my kids create and edit videos.

My son is 10yrs old and loves Legos and minecraft and would like to buy a program that will help expand that to like make some type design and architecture.

So second part of question would a Mac be best or a PC. Thanks for any input
Was looking at the $1499 4k Mac

PC or Mac it really doesn't matter... But your video editing comment makes me think you should probably look into the Mac... I don't know if its included or free, but something like iMovie will probably get you off the ground faster and easier than any other software solution.

That said, its not like you cant run Windows on a Mac if you really wanted or needed it, so if you had PC only software you needed to support, you can easily get some virtualization software from a company called VMWare and make it happen.

These days, its not about the platform, its about the software... so start there.

thats because they are the same parts now. some cpu in a mac vs a windows box. the thing with macs is they are over priced and typically can get something for so much less.

you can get a good windows box for $500. they have windows movie maker but there is also adobe softeware among others.

I've used Adobe Premier a long time ago but it has a pretty big learning curve compared to iMovie or Movie Maker...

I agree with you re-hardware, but you don't need to own a mac to have a mac these days... With a little work you can virtualize mac operating system on a PC within the VMWare Workstation environment...

I refuse to buy Apple hardware as its no different than PC hardware, you just pay a premium for it.

Spending $1500 on a mac laptop every few years is whats popular, but its just not necessary. Mac's actually have the same exact hardware as a PC, and have a really beautiful aluminum case. Its up to you on how much you'd like to spend.

Also, laptops seem really popular with people who never take it out of the house. I've never understood buying a mobile computer and leaving it immobile.

Get a Mac, iMovie is pretty easy to use - that's why I originally got a mac for doing videos of kids.
