    55 or 60K TV Suggestions

Im Looking for a new TV, 55 or 60 inch, flat or curved, must be 4K. I've been partial to samsung but I know they run on the expensive side. I'm replacing a Samsung 51" plasma. I wanna stay under $1500, but may entertain a little more if it's a killer deal. The more research I do, the more I get confused and question my choices. I see that Vizio is the bang for the buck TV but I hate the new branch style legs. This tv will not be wall mounted, it will be on a custom made corner unit stand. Any input will be appreciated.

I was leaning toward this samsung as it has good reviews. UN60JU7100FX.

LG currently has the highest rated 4K sets, but a lot more than $1500. The reviews say the picture is stunningly good. I'd like one of those, but my 6 year old Panny plasma is holding up fine. So wife says no freaking way 😕

      same here.

my plasma is still going strong and i don't forsee it dying anytime soon. i still got at least 7 years of viewing before the plasma starts dying (as per the manufacturer life rating)

I agree with the OP, with the prices dropping as fast as they are it would be silly to buy a 1080P set this late in the game, plus unless you just want minimal features and so-so picture quality you'll have to go 4k to get those features.

I've been researching this question for my own needs. My once top of the line 1080P 50" Samsung LED is 9 years old and starting to get flaky and I'll probably upgrade late this year or early next year. If I had unlimited money I'd buy myself a 65" LG OLED TV because black-level wise it's the closest thing you'll find to the picture of a top of the line 4K plasma. The colors pop a bit too much for some people's tastes but I love them. Just be aware that like plasma, OLED is subject to burn in issues.

Unfortunately, I'm not rich so a for budgetary reasons I'll probably be getting a 60-65" 2016 or later (for the HDR display). The ones that have impressed me the most so far are Samsung's JU7100 series and LG's UH7700 series. I kinda lean Samsung just because that's a lot of money and I trust them more than LG. Either way, I'll wind up upgrading my home theater receiver and my Roku at the same time.

I wish Costco would have the big three side by side

All 55" sets in one area...

Visio is cheap but the color stinks next to the LG or Samsung...

            Serious question, why 4K?

I just replaced mine and there is a lot of conflicting noise on what will be the next standard.... I thought that 4K was still VHS or Beta when it came to your AV system, DVD players, and anything streaming 4K
