VoIP recommendation....need new phone service

I live in the outskirts of town. And while it is great being away from the city, that comes at the price of being limited to AT&T DSL/Uverse.

When I first moved here I was able to get 6 meg download speed. Then they dropped me down to 3 meg. The reason I was told was there were to many people in the neighborhood on DSL.

And just recently I was dropped down to 1.5 meg!?!?! And I can barely stream TV anymore.

But...we now have a wireless internet provider that just started servicing this area with good speeds 15 meg. So I plan on switching to them. The thing is my home phone is through AT&T VoIP so I need a new company to switch to as I am DONE with AT&T.

I have a older Vonage box I never used but hopefully folks can direct me to the latest and greatest service.

Most of my calls are in the USA but my Dad lives in Europe so a international plan is a plus.

The Vonage adapter will be locked to Vonage, if you don't want Vonage, then Ooma is probably it.

If you want to port your number: don't cancel AT&T until the port order is finished.

I have internet thru wave broadband 55mbps and phone thru vonage. Vonage is best for friends and family in europe.

I have an Obitalk 202 box and a Google voice phone number. Works great.

ooma is great. bought the box for $50.00 at frys as it was an open box return

ooma is one of the best plug in options. free calling in the states all you pay is the local taxes and e911 fee which works out to under $5 a month.

if you need to call international just use skype google hangout or one of the many other options to connect to people over the internet.

I have been using Ooma for years and love it. The only problem is with fax. I use Ooma Linx and it is not reliable.

whats the problem with fax? i fax a couple times a year i just hook it into my printer/fax and it works fine.
