Looks like roughly 12.8Mbps per camera (H.264, high resolution, 5MP)
But in short, 1gig ports should be plenty for your application.

I'd worry that the NVR has no room to grow before the network switches.
    7.7 for 3MP
So roughly 10Mbps on a 4.1 MP puts me around 320..

Still pretty tight. But again. I need to see if 3MP cameras might be a better fit for tighter locations. ..maybe bump a couple up to 6 elsewhere.

I don't have a better one to pick from this vendor. Next step would be a standalone running software ...

Some gigabit switches have a 10Gb SFP on the side to interconnect with.

My 16-port NVR uses IP PoE cameras, currently have 11 set up. It records all in HD but when viewed remotely, compresses the live video as needed so all the bandwidth isn't used up. So on my iPhone or iPad, it's the equivalent of a lower resolution video but it's enough to know if there's anything amiss. If so, I can go straight to the NVR and view the full resolution images, export HD video, export good quality still photos, etc. Mine uses four 6TB NAS surveillance-grade hard drives and allows for automatically backing up to external storage. If you do that, consider a Synology with dual GB ports and multiple RAID drives.

You are going to pay a premium for Cisco and their warranties are void you don't use their cables. Look into Linksys. Same technology as Cisco since that team was sold off.

Let me know if you want me to put you in contact with someone from that sales team. I used to be their finance manager.

Most do; you just have to program it.

I know mikrotik routers can do it too if you use them as a switch. I mention it because they're not expensive and you can buy them with a bunch of interfaces...

linksys has a habit of crashing when used with high throughput. Its really meant for home use.

Linksys was never the same technology as Cisco. Linksys never made enterprise grade equipment.

This ^^^^ Linksys is consumer grade, and shares nothing with Cisco at all. Not the hardware, not the software, not the support. The only similarity is they both have RJ45 jacks.

We're getting ready to do a major upgrade to our camera system.
110 CCTV cameras spread across 3 DVRs.
                      Looking at going IP based.
With changes to the floors, we need to look at camera positioning as well as the number to provide the best coverage.
                      This should get interesting.

If you have an existing infrastructure of coax with active cameras.. there are HD alternatives out there , that will save significant money...
HD over coax 2.4 MP with 3+ MP being introduced in the near future.

I'll keep that in mind since budget is always an issue.
I installed half the coax for the expansion and will probably get to do a lot of the upgrade as well. Oh joy!

                            LoL Yea..

Are the cables all ran to the same location ? Or multiple ?

We use a company that sells re-branded hik vision systems. So far we have been pretty happy with them . And their systems allow for the integration of NAS drives.. so you aren't limited to what the dvr can hold for storage.

They have large capacity dvrs as well.

And something called VCA video content analytics... Basically you can set up line crossing or alerts for sensitive areas.. the systems are hybrids so you can keep existing analog cameras and upgrade as you go to HD . Can also add IP cameras . All recorded and viewable thru the dvr and software.

Really nice option for someone like you.

The company I work for sells a ton of different 802.3at compliant PoE switches. PM me if you're interested.
