    Added benefit of Google Voice

It has been almost three weeks since getting GV. I put it on a line I rarely use. I kept it for two main reasons: I've had this coveted 310 area code with a Beverly Hills prefix for 30+ years. Also, kept the number for those 1-2x/year out-of-town relatives and friends I keep in touch with (most a couple generations older than I am).

Anyway, I've noticed an added benefit of GV that my 9 year old niece brought to my attention: Robo (and unsolicited) calls have greatly reduced.

I use to get 3 solicitations (minimum) daily and now its about 4-5 each week. I don't understand the correlations of dropping a conventional landline and receiving far less unsolicited calls, but then again, why question it.

You can easily block the other unsolicited calls by logging in to google voice.
You can stop unwanted calls and messages, and block or mark them as spam. When Google Voice suspects a call might be spam, it displays a warning on the incoming call screen and in your call hist

All my credit cards, bank accounts, and orders I place all use my Google Voice number, including my last re-finance of the house...
It does not ring my phone... but I do get notifications when a VM is left.
