Siren going off on my laptop.

Had this issue with the HP laptop and I just put it aside.
Now I'd like to sell the laptop so I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it so I can fix it. Or at least sell it and disclose what it needs.

I can get into the bios with the esc button.
I'm doing the hard disk self test right now.

I think it's the fan that causes the siren alarm sounds on computers?

It's a HP pavillion Dv7-6123cl entertainment pc laptop.

Any suggestions?

With little detail on your problem, it sounds like an overheating problem. Blow out accumulated dirt from CPU.

But in all seriousness, it most likely means your CPU is overheating. Open it up and clean it out everything.

Since you said you can get to the BIOS, you should be able to check which part of the computer has abnormal temperatures and that will most likely be the root of the problem.

I did a system restore and so far no siren. Maybe a boot or driver error but I've read hp sirens are for over heating.

So now when I start the computer it goes to this page and I have to press return to get to the sign in page.



If I press f8 I get these options. Which one do I choose so I don't get the page above and have to press return?

Just started it up and black screen and siren after the HP screen.
So after a few starts. Esc keys. I get to the first page I posted. Press return with Windows highlighted. I get to the password home screen and a button looks like it is held down. It was like this before also.
I press backspace and all is fine.

Starting this computer sucks. Probably have to sell it as parts if I can't fix it even though it works just hard to get into windows.

It's weird when the password page shows it does look like a stuck button but after deleting it. There is no issue with the keys.
It happens all the time.

The good news is when I start it no siren now but I get the first page I took a picture of and have to press return to select Windows to get to the password page.

I got the same problem with my PC a couple of weeks ago. It's my computer overheating. I just turned it off for a while and cleaned the inside. Since then, never heard that siren sound again.
