    Home Internet service

Currently, we have Frontier (formerly Verizon) FIOS. Internet in our area has been down for 3 days with no ETA for when it will be back up.

What's the other good options for home higg speed internet?

I work for DirecTV so I get free television and 50% off my AT&T wireless so bundling isn't an option for me

I don't believe AT&T has Internet service in my area

A friend who lives in Temecula switched to time warner for internet after having no service for over a week. Not sure time warner will be any better.

Doesn't DirectTV provide internet services via satellite? It's probably faster that DSL but may not be as fast as Frontier.

I'm in the same boat with the Fios to Frontier swap... It's garbage...

I thought they were just taking over the Fios infastructure... that seems to not be the case because it is a complete disaster...

We are looking for a new service as well.

Looks like Time Warner has 300Mbps download with 20 Mbps upload for $79 month. No contract

Just like u PSLguy, now on wonderful Frontier..... Net has not been any worse than normal but TV is killing us and cannot be verified for watching on other devices when on road. I am about to change over to DirecTV once Frontier gets our billing squared away and I check out the rate for the choice package or higher... Must have NFL..... Really a bad situation that Verizon has left us in.

AT&T only offers 6 Mbps DSL in my area so I'm going to switch to Time Warner.

I am on old, pre-quantum FiOS equipment, and my service hasn't suffered as much as a hiccup.

DirectPC used to be DirecTV's sat Internet service, but I cannot find any info anymore, but it appears that it has been taken over by hughesnet.
Sat Internet is pretty laggy (635ms latency, 5.32Mbps down, .12Mbps up is what even Gen4 Hughesnet gets), and most of them are capped [so they can nail you w/overage charges] AFAIK, so streaming is a no-go on Sat-based Internet (Hughesnet, Gen4):

If I were out Internet service at home, I'd be the squeekiest wheel, and maybe power cycle my router a few times a day, every day to check, then again. Make sure you get a credit for this month, if you can, as you didn't get service that was contracted.

satellite internet has to be one of the worst. dsl or cell would most likely be better.

there is a lot more to it then just taking over. they only got the last mile lines. they didnt get the backbone. its a major switch its going to take time to work out.

Dumped Fios/Frontier and went with Charter. Much better. And less expensive.

We saw a Frontier ad on the break room TV @work and one guy told me he is not paying his bill until he starts getting reliable service... TV and Internet. I spoke with my mother yesterday, when she mentioned her quantum service she just upgraded to a few months ago, and she has been trouble-free. It IS begining to start air-conditioner season, (power-sag season) and that is when I started running my router on a UPS, and stopped having issues with Internet requiring a router roboot... Many years ago. (I am still running a cheapo UPS that is simulated sine wave, but the only issue I really ever had on one of these is when I put my alarm system on it before installing, and the adapter started buzzing after a few weeks, so I had to replace it.)

Have had Wave Broadband 100MB service for a couple of years now and have been very happy with their service even though it's a bit pricey.
