    FBI hacked the IPhone

Interesting. Good on the one hand regarding national security and if there's any good information to be recovered, bad if privacy, in your opinion, trumps national security.

I say, at least in this particular case, national security is paramount.

Let me guess, the passcode was: "one, two, three, four"?

I would have tired that weeks ago...

Part of me says the data got deleted when they tried to open it up and they won't admit it.

Don't give the FBI too much credit. It was an Israeli company that helped retrieve the device data.

Secondly, Apple pretty much insinuated that there were other ways to get to the data on the iPhone 5C because it lacked secure enclave of the newer iPhone processors. No one knows the method used, but I'm guessing that's how they got in.

Assuming they didn't rely on the lack of secure enclave, then that means all current iPhones are vulnerable to the Israeli firm's method, in which case, all other subpoenas for unlocking iPhones should pretty much be nullified since they have a way to get into iPhones now.

Personally I have no doubt that someone was able to get into a phone. Was it an Israeli, I doubt it. You really think the US Government doesn't have the best hackers in the world on their staff?

Anyone who thinks their data is safe on an electronic device I have some ocean front property to sell you in Arizona.
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Thanks for making me google about security. I learned something today.

So the Fbi Claims that they retrieved the data but haven't said if they decrypted it ? Big difference

I herd a news story that they cloned the phone over and over, and tried all possible combos till that clone locked up. Then move on to the next clone, but how do you clone it if you cant open it?

They can clone the chip with the right equipment without it being unlocked.

                          The phone was a 5c.

Uh, the FBI wanted the master encryption key, and that is BS, and Apple shouldn't have been forced, however the FBI couldn't do it themselves, even with all the resources at their disposal:

THEN the Libertarian John McAfee tells how to do it on TV, THEN it happens... behold.
