Need help on installing new BIOS [SOLVED]

Ok, so a friend of a friend gave me a PC. Only catch is they wiped everything off the computer. Literally, EVERYTHING.

When I go turn on the PC, all I get is a white flashing dash, nothing else.

So I need to install a BIOS, how do I go about installing a new BIOS? Do I need to install DOS first?

I highly doubt the bios was deleted or removed. You probably need to hit a hotkey like delete or f10 - f12 upon bootup to enter the bios. You will need an operating system. I suggest a free one like ubuntu which can be burned to disk (using some other computer). Put the disk in, and more often than not, computers boot from cd first.

I agree. Highly unlikely the BIOS was wiped...

Have you tried going into the BIOS by pressing F2, Delete, or what ever other key may be required? I suspect that your BIOS is still there and the hard drive is what was wiped.

If in fact the BIOS has been wiped somehow, then you most likely won't be able to install anything or use the computer at all. BIOS has to be there in order to do anything, including booting up from an OS installation disk.

Found out the issue, was outputting video from the mobo instead of the video card. Once I hooked up the monitor to the video card.....sure enough, their is good old DOS asking, "Where the heck is the bootable CD/DVD?"

Going to install Win 7 Pro this weekend!
