    Google Search Problem

Am having a problem accessing Google Search. Have Google News set as my Firefox homepage and when I click on the Google Apps tab and select Google Search, I get "Server not found - Firefox can't find the server at www.google.google.com". When I try using IE, I get "This page can't be displayed - Make sure the web address www.google.google.com is correct."

    WTF is going on?

No, I'm not putting Google twice in the URL. When I try to launch Google Search using their launch button, that's what the error code is saying.

Have you tried reinstalling the app?

App? I'm using an HP laptop running Win 7 Home, not a Smartphone with Apps. The "Google Apps" button is on the Google News page in the upper right corner. When you click on it, a Google Apps window appears with Google +, Search, Maps, Play, etc. The other thing I just noticed is that the Youtube, Maps, and News launch buttons are no longer accessible - IE they are grayed out and I'm no longer able to click on them to launch them.

app and program is the same thing. they are all programs.

like they said have you tried to go to google.com directly vs using the box. what its doing when searching is adding the extra google. its firefox is the problem. i am not sure how to change the address its searching for firefox.

That works to get to Google Search - why I'm having the issues with both Firefox and IE is beyond my limited knowledge...

Ok, I can now confirm OP is not crazy and this is not firefox problem. I can recreate the problem on my iPad Pro using Safari and requesting the desktop site for google news. Then when I use the apps button to request google search, it puts google.google.com in the Url bar.

This is a problem at google. Some dipstick programmer fat fingered the code. Maybe they will get fired or demoted, but for now there is nothing anyone without a google employee badge can do to fix this.

For now just type google.com in the address bar to get to the search form.

I always use https:// instead. One more monkey-wrench to throw into the pro-provacy-mix.
Encrypted Google searches your provider and all in between theoretically cannot see...

I always add "ssl google firefox" (or avail here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...le-ssl-search/ ) and remove all other default search engines in Firefox.

Looks like the issue has been resolved as I can access all again.
