    Fried computer?

One of my fans went out so like an idiot i opened side of pc With it still on to take out the fan, one of the wires came out and was stripped so i went to pull the other fan wire out and they touched and made a very small spark, now my pc won't even turn on. Any suggestions?

you'd have to narrow it down...

you could have fried the Power Supply, the Motherboard, or the CPU depending on how the system behaves when you press the power button.

normally if you flip the switch off, then back on on the PSU, you'll see some light on the motherboard (newer boards) light up. if so the PSU may be fine.

If you then hit the power button and the fans speed up, the motherboard may be ok.

any more info on how it behaves?

I have a hunch your mobo is fried.

But like nothing mentioned, do a field test and test out everything one by one.

How doo you test out one by one? Fan was back fan connected above power supply and wires went to power supply, nothing at all happens when i press the on button.

Is there a breaker or reset on the back of the PSU?

I'll second the motherboard theory. You might have killed a voltage regulator.

Gonna have to try the parts in a machine with known working components, one at a time, until you find out which is busted. Computer repair people and some hobbyists will buy or build test benches for quick swapping parts just for this sort of thing.

Of course you can also do this same process with a regular computer case, it's just more of a PITA.

If nothing lights up and nothing happens ensure:
                    1. That you did not trip a breaker and that the entire circuit that you're plugged into works.
                    2. There could be a little, red breaker on the back of the power supply, directly above or below the spot for the power plug. Physically switch it to the opposite setting and then try power again.
                    3. If both fail, swap power supply.
                    4. If ilthe PC doesn't power up after a power supply swap then you've likely toasted the MB.

If the fan was plugged directly to the power supply and not the mb, then most likely the short just tripped the power supply.

If it was one quick spark and dead, no smoking or burning, then I really doubt it actually burnt the transformer in the power supply. Like mentioned it's most likely a tripped circuit breaker or burnt fuse, look at the back of the power supply for any indication of a fuse or breaker.

I saw a fuse but not a breaker, the fuse did look cloudy, the fan was plugged into power supply.

Get another fuse. Your computer is likely just fine.
