    Cell phones...

Is there a way to block telephone numbers that come to my cell phone?

After 20+ years of having a cell number, I'm starting to receive unsolicited calls (i.e. lower my credit card rate, buy insurance, etc). At first I thought it is because one of my credit card companies got hacked. But my cell number is not associated with any credit card or retailer I use (i.e. PayPal, Amazon, Discover, Bank of America, etc.). The only reasons I still have a landline are for the number to be associated with retailers/credit card companies and for DSL use.

So getting back to my question, can cell phone numbers be blocked? TMobile says no but...anyone know if there is an (Android) app for that?

      If you can't block them:

      Create a contact called spam
Give contact spam, a ringtone of nothing.
Add the unwanted numbers to that contact
When any number associated with the spam contact calls, you won't even hear it.

That's a good idea. Unfortunately, its usually not the same number that calls.

On the flip side, I spoke to tech support at TMobile (can never rely on first tier to give you the right answer). Calls can be blocked from my phone but again, if the spammer uses a different number each time, all that can be done is block the number called. Nevertheless, it's better than nothing.

P.S. TMobile did say they can block calls from telephone numbers that leave an automated VM. How TMO knows a VM message is automated...I don't know. But they said it can be done (from their end).

Block contacts or recent callers on any Android deviceWhen someone won't leave you alone, or the same number repeatedly calls you for a sales pitch, you can block them. If you can't find a way to block a number on your phone, you can also...

i am assuming they dont know your name when they call? a lot of times the computer just dials one number after the next until someone picks up. we get a lot of calls on the home phone but the numbers are always spoofed.

Android: Even if you're on the Do Not Call list, you may still get frequent calls from businesses with your number or friends or family that won't lea

here they talk about a app that lets you make a filter list. basically will only allow numbers on the list to go though.
