Anyone tried an Intel 750 Series AIC SSD?

I'm looking to get a couple of SSD's and these things look like they scream. Intel 750 Series AIC

what are you going to use them for? raid 0 or 1? do you want to spend a lot of money on slight performance increases?

the pcie drives are awesome but i only recommend them to people who game on an uber elite system or perform high read and write work. for the majority of users, two samsung ssds in raid 0 offer a great perf increase at a reasonable ($400) price point.

Agree with NYT, Samsung evo ssd. Best performance for the price IMO.

The PCIe SSDs are fantastic and they have a lot of applications where they would do well... large sequential file handling, desktop virtualization, video editing, database...

If you are buying just to buy, your general desktop user experience isn't going to vary much from just a good SATAIII SSD.

That said, those Intel 750s are pretty entry level... for the price, it would be fun to try.

I have the 400GB version of the 750 SSD. Here is the benchmark:

This is the first product from Intel in 20 years that failed on me. I did have one of the early versions though. Replacement was quick, easy, and painless.

Fallout 4 feels like it is running on a ram drive. I haven't checked nvme ssd speeds lately and I'm sure there is faster now.

I'd only pay the premium if a majority of my computer work would take advantage of the read/write speeds, otherwise, standard SSDs are more than quick enough and are much more reasonable priced these days.

Computer is used for gaming 95% of the time and yes I'm going to use some 2.5" SSD's for right now, the next major build may use the PCIE units I'm just getting a feeling for them at the moment.

i only use pcie cards because i dont pay for them, my company does. if it were my dollar and in a gaming rig, i would get SSDs and use the rest on my video card (or cards).

my laptop has been pcie for awhile now and yes, it is worth it. the power savings alone is nuts as it uses almost zero when not in use.
