Text message--What is wrong with Apple phones?

I have a flip phone (Samsung Rugby) through ATT. Love the phone and service but have no data plan.

I get text messages fine but without a data plan I can't receive attached photos.

It seems like I have a problem getting messages from Apple phones. Sometimes they come through fine. Other times I can't receive them even though they are just text.

I though initially the sender was attaching photos but it happens SOMETIMES when they send standard text messages. I only seem to have the problem with people using Apple phones.

    Any ideas?

Tell the folks with I phones to email you....

Apple sends texts as text, mms, SMS and I message based upon what phone/ carrier the recipient has.....

VCRs work.... er.... flip phones.... but they also have limitations...

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Most basic phones still have MMS which allow for pics to be sent even without data.

But here is the first and most important question: HAVE YOU EVER HAD AN APPLE PHONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE PHONE NUMBER YOU HAVE NOW? If so, you need to deregister your phone number from iMessage. Otherwise any iPhones with iMessage enabled will still try and text you by default with iMessage - which of course you will never get. Use this link.

Learn how to deregister iMessage. Be sure you can keep getting text messages by providing the phone number you want to deregister from iMessage.

It probably wouldn't hurt to do it anyhow, based on your description of not getting texts from some iPhones, and if you don't know the long history of the phone number you have now. All you have to do is enter your phone number, and then enter the 6 digit code they text you.

Yeah, I know. But every time I drop kick my ruggedized Samsung phone across the parking lot, I am glad it isn't a smart phone. Can you buy Smartphone screens in bulk? lol

Apple was hit with a lawsuit over text delivery problems to other phone types. That is when they created the tool I linked you to above. The bottom line is if your phone number is still in Apple's master system, you are going to have problems getting texts from Apple phones until you deregister your number using the link above.

Apple is facing a federal lawsuit over iMessage-related problems users encounter when they switch from iOS to another operating system.
