budget gaming pc

I am thinking about getting a new gaming pc to play fallout 4 and other games, I haven't built a pc since 2006, and I am not really feeling like doing all the research to build a new pc. What decent gaming pcs are out there in the $500-600 range?

Dedicated video, quick processor decent specs?

Best bet IMO is to find an inexpensive i5 system from one of the big manufactures and then use the rest of your money to buy the best GPU you can afford. Its still a bit of a stretch and you will have to find good deals. Aim for an R9 380 GPU.

"Gaming PCs" all suffer from bad parts selection with way too much CPU vs. GPU, to get a high performance GPU you are all of a sudden buying an i7 instead of an i5.

$600 for a prebuilt aint gonna get you far in gaming. Your basically looking at the cheap office pc range.

You will need at least a GTX 970 for gaming and to future proof yourself for awhile since the graphics card is the main component in gaming.

total is $1020 so far and still need: case, dvd drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor, audio card, speakers, Windows 64 bit version, etc...

Can you see where this is going? Your budget may be off by about a factor of four...

I have never spent that much on a pc, if I have to spend that much, I simply won't be playing fallout 4. I played skyrim on a $500 laptop with the settings turned down. I want a little better than that but I don't need to turn the settings up all the way.

Since you're not after an ultimate gaming system I think you could put something together near your range. You might not have a case

I did some research. You can build a older generation pc using used components off ebay and amazon. Throw in case, 500gb hard drive and psu, windows, you can get a viable gaming pc for $600. Not upgrade proof though.

Much better than a laptop. Video card is limited to 2 GB so game textures need to be below that. For Fallout I'd guess that would prob put you around med-high or so.

A budget PC won't give you better visuals than current gen consoles. Why not get Playstation 4 for $400? 1080p 30 fps is decent. The reviews say PS4 works better than Xbox for Fallout 4.

I am not a console guy, I don't like console controllers, I dont like playing on the tv. I think I will be building a new pc.

I think I may also wait until black friday and hopefully score some deals. I can wait a little bit.
