DRONE FPV question(s)

I am looking to buy my first higher end Drone. I would like it to have FPV capability.

I am conflicted between using a gopro with Wifi, which looks to be the standard way out, or an analog transmission of the video on 5.8 Ghz....If that is even correct. I understand the wifi is too slow for racing, and you also want to avoid digital video transmission on the same frequency of the controller. I am not even sure I have all that technical jive correct.

Any ideas on how I can achieve fast FPV linkage, good video recording, good range, and a ready to fly bundled package?? I also don't need to use a gopro, I would be happy with a vendor supplied camera as long as the video quality was good.

We purchased our system from dslrpros.com. Phantom based with GoPro. Was easier (for us) to purchase a pre-packaged system v.s. putting one together on our own.

I run a set of Fatshark Predator goggles. They are 5.8ghz and you can buy a package deal that includes a camera, Tx as well as the goggles. Get a good set of Circular Polarized antennas to go with it and you will have an excellent setup. I use this on both my racing quad and my filming tricpoter.

Edit: one thing you seem to be confusing is Control Link video to Recording video. If you use a GoPro as your control video, you can also use it to record. Though for the control link it will produce a slight lag that is an issue with fast racing applications. If you run a board camera and 5.8ghz downlink, there is no lag but the video quality is terrible compared to the GoPro. Typically one would run a 5.8ghz with board camera to use as your control link and have a separate camera on board for recording, eg GoPro. I got it. I joined an RC board, like a calguns for drones and FPV flying, watched some videos, and I think I have it now....

Looks like a gas!
