I was wondering if I get a Chromecast will I be able to stream from my PC, VLC media player? Anyone has any success with this?

the beta support in VLC for chromecast is there but still not stable.
If you would like to stream media from your pc to your chromecast in a easy and painless way for the most part i would suggest Videostream for chromecast its very easy to use and works quite well. you can even remote control it from your phone/tablet.

You can always cast videos by just opening the file from within Chrome and hitting the cast button in the browser toolbar. It's not VLC, but it works perfectly.
