Hey tech folks: phone question

I've currently used an iPhone 4 for several years. I listen to a lot o music and podcasts, my phones constantly full due to it only having 8 gigs of memory. I've been dealing with verizon, which is essentially the DmV of the private sector. Now they want you to pay full rate on a phone even if its an upgrade?

Bottom line, I'm super cheap and newegg has Nokia lumia 928's for sale with 32 gigs of storage for $119. Good deal? Good phone?

Nokia are awesome, I've used nothing but Lumias for years. That said, I have the 1520. I've not tried the 928. They are superior phones and the Windows Phone UI makes the iPhone, with it's pages of static icons, look like it's 20 year old. The only potential issue can be with app support, so make sure your favorite apps are supported on the platform.

I rather enjoyed my Nokia lumia, however the app support was pretty bad. If you don't use any apps from the app store your probably fine.

Another source of cheap phones, check out amazon and look under used/refurbished. I have had great luck with those phones.

Final idea, this is what I did. Buy a rugged cell phone that makes basic calls for about 30 bucks. But an older 64Gb device without service. It still works on wifi and holds all my podcasts, music, pictures and ballistic/drop compensating apps. But saves me $50 a month in text and data charges.

I have the same issue, solved it by using the cloud to hold my stored data.

Thought i posted this in the tech section, my brain was off apparently. My co-worker put me onto some place called Swappa, looks like they have decent used stuff and its guaranteed to work. Hopefully a mod sees this and moves it!

Verizon followed the trend to eliminate phone subsidies. Get used to it.

I would get something with an micro SD card slot, so you can always add more storage if needed

I'll never get a phone that I can't just drop in a SIM in, on an open box phone ever again.

(Apple will never get a dime of my money, especially for a phone that people overpay for storage on. M$ will never be in my pocket either.)

I've been looking for a new phone for T-Mobile, but I like the sliders and I'll have to probably go 3rd party phone, but that's allowed with T-mobile... more open that way.

I ended up using a vendor off of swappa, got a new old stock iPhone 4 with 32 gigs of storage for $79 shipped. Not too bad. Added bonus, no need to get a new sized otterbox or different car charger.

congrats on making the purchase and i hope the phone works out for you. when i need a cell phone replacement, i purchase a like-new offering from ebay. my phone wants are simple and i currently use a Casio flip phone.
