    Problem with "yahoo search" browser

Hi guys. I'm having a difficult time removing the above malware from my PC. Everytime I turn on my browser (Google Chrome), it automatically redirects me to "yahoo search" which is obviously a malware since it shows different non sense websites. I did the Control panel route and tried uninstalling programs I wasn't familiar with, even programs that I downloaded that I think was the culprit, but to no avail. Please help guys, I use my computer mainly for work at home purposes.

    Thanks in advance

Use Firefox (or Palemoon x64, AKA "Firefox w/out bloat"), add Google SSL secure search, then remove all others.
Then stop installing sh!z. The screen already went black, then you clicked "SURE, screw up my computer"...
Run an AV, ALWAYS, and do a MalwareBytes scan.
      /solved.

Download malware bytes on your PC and install it. Run it while on safe mode.
If it does not work, I would suggest backing up all your data then reimage. Or you can do a system restore first and see how it performs.

Did you check to see if Yahoo was set as your home page in the browser configs?

Yes, then changed it back to google then refreshed. Reopen browser then it reverts back to the fake yahoo browser.

Did you download any software or software updates lately? Some, like Java have a redirect to a different search engine unless you untick the redirect before install.

your home page might be setup to yahoo.

also what browser are you using? you may want to also disable "open last tabs or page"

also write down all you extensions (browser apps) and delete them. just reinstall them later. just to make sure it's not a bad extension also with malware crap.

run 2 or 3 different malware. i use malwarebytes. others have posted good ones here too.

Thank you. I ran malwarebytes and it was blocking the malicious websites, but I ended up doing a full restore on my PC just to keep things safe.

Did you save the settings before "refreshing" ?

Thats always the best way to do it. Going forward, only log in as a guest and malware wont be able to auto load. You get the benefit of learning the name of the program.
