iphone 6 Screen & Digitizer replacement

Anyone recommend a spot in the bay area that can do this, or a kit that they'd recommend?

The screen near the home button is shattered and the phone won't charge. I'm not sure if it'll even turn on, or if the screen is just shot.

This belongs to my MIL and we replaced it with a new phone. I'm just wondering how much it'll cost to replace considering it's an iPhone and they have good resale value.

    Thanks in advanced!

There are videos on the site I linked for each project. They also package and sell necessary tools as well. Good luck!

Craig's list.... you will find a lot of little shops that do the repair and typically the CL price is cheaper than walk in....

Call ahead to verify they have the parts on hand....

Before you buy a kit make sure you understand that Apple uses some of the smallest screws in existence. I replaced the digitizer on my daughter in laws iPhone 5. It wasn't all that hard but my old eyes didn't like the micro parts. After I did that repair I bought some jewelers glasses for future repairs.

I figured I'd unmount the scope off my AR in case I need to zoom in lol. I just found out that her phone took a dip in the sink, so I'm not even sure if it'll power on.

I've fixed a few phones and tablets that have taken a dip in the toilet or pool. Open it up and make sure it is really dry. It is amazing how liquid hides in these devices. After it is dry look for corrosion points. If you find any you can sometimes clear them out with a needle. Then power it on. In many cases it will still work.

Thanks. That gives me hope. How difficult is it to remove the screen?

The screen isn't too hard to remove. If they put too much adhesive on it you can use a hair dryer to heat it up. The hardest part about fixing any of these super thin phones/tablets is getting the case apart without either breaking it or scuffing it all up. I would suggest you get a phone repair tool kit off of Amazon for around $5, it is well worth it. I ended up buying a decent "spoder" tool (real thin metal pry wedge) since I like to mess with these things.

Ifixit is the bomb. Buy their double suction cup tool and their "guitar picks".

I used the suction cup tool on an iPhone 6S. It was easy. Put pressure on it slow for like 30 seconds until you get a little motion . Then let it down and then clamp hard and viola, it's loose.

They don't really show that in their videos or still pictures. The slow part is to lift the glue and get most of it loose. Then you have to move quick because there are snaps on both sides.

The Samsung S5 is the most difficult of any phone by far. Samsung S6 is very similiar to iPhone 6S.

                        .

You can got a new screen replacement from hcqs.com.cn and replace the broken screen yourself. The charging problem may be caused by the loose of the battery connection flex cable. You can reset it. If still not solved you can change a new one.
