    TP-Link Powerline Adpater help

    Hey Everyone...

I just recently moved into a new place and the wifi is weak in my upstairs office. Generally I only get 20-30% signal but it would still max out when doing a speed test.

I opted to get a TP-LINK TL-PA4010KIT AV500. Everything is hooked up correctly (directly into the wall and units paired) and it works, but I am only getting 30Mbps download when I normally max out at 60Mbps.

Is this just the limits of this type of powerline? Do I need a better more expensive one?

    Powerline Speeds

Newegg reviews indicate several folks have 55 and 60 Mbps downloads, so its probably not a hardware limitation of the device. Maybe you have a fair amount of electrical noise in the wiring.

This. Lots of variables going on between adapters that could slow the signal down. What you're experiencing is similar to what I get. I'm still happy with the results, but it would be nice to experience the internet speeds I'm paying for at all my access points.

The biggest killer of of speed for these devices seems to be crossing over breakers. If you can keep it all on one circuit you seem to get great speed, but every circuit you traverse seems to loose speed.

Just seems to be my personal observations.

I use the same setup between my FreeNAS setup upstairs in my office, and my HTPC downstairs.
