Asus makes really good routers. Check them out. Just got one recently from Amazon.

I use to used Linksys and Netgear routers then a few years ago I have Asus routers a try and couldn't be happier. Never had issues with my Asus router and I've had mine almost 4 years. Only had to reboot it twice.

I've had a great experience with Ubiquiti products. I currently use the Edge Router PoE, https://www.ubnt.com/edgemax/edgerouter-poe/, which allows the ability to power devices through the ethernet cable. The devices of course have to have the ability to accept PoE. Originally i was going to add their 802.11ac 3x3 WAP, https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac/, but found my old 802.11n router works fine as an access point for phones and tablets.

+1 for Ubiquiti, carrier grade products that are fantastically priced. I also use Edgerouter with UniFi wireless AP's.

I have found the ASUS router to work well. You can run third party software on them too if you like.

                D-link.

But regardless of brand, make sure its plugged into some kind of surge protector (or UPS). These things will blow up if you even look at them sideways!

Another vote for Asus. Tried Buffalo but too many issues.

                      Asus.

                      Seeing the trend yet?

For wireless routers Asus is next to impossible to beat these days. For modems, Motorola has some of the best on the market for their price.

Some cool features were added. Traffic analysis is neat.

pfSense is now making a SoHo box....Its the very same software package that I use on my large enterprise class security appliances. Around $350 with a/b/g/n WiFi built in....You cant beat that. http://store.pfsense.org/SG-2220/
